Embracing an Authentic Institutional Identity to Bridge the Trust Gap in Higher Education

Mistrust in higher education is pervasive. Large segments of the public are convinced that higher education is a scam: the cost too high, with the quality and payoff too low. Can we prevent prospective students questioning if a degree is worthwhile by embracing authentic institutional identities in campaigns to rebuild trust? This session will explore:  

  • How do we promote the holistic payoff that the university experience offers to prove that higher education is more than just obtaining a degree?  
  • How do we convince prospective students and their families that a degree can offer a strong return on investment?  
  • How can transparency regarding institutional social missions impact the choices of prospective students by creating a sense of authenticity?
  • What are the best ways to spotlight alumni success stories and authentic student experiences on campus?
