Currently serving as Director of Student Support and Advising at York University, Dr. De Freitas has distinguished himself through exceptional leadership in organizational restructuring and service delivery enhancement. Under his direction, his team achieved a remarkable 90%+ increase in student satisfaction within the first year, demonstrating his ability to drive meaningful change in complex institutional environments. He simultaneously holds a position as Governor on the Board of Directors at Park Street Education, where he contributes to strategic decision-making and governance oversight for this innovative educational institution. Dr. De Freitas brings over 15 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, having served in senior roles including Associate Vice President and Registrar at Durham College, Director of Financial Aid & Awards at OCAD University, and Manager of Financial Aid at Algonquin College. His expertise spans strategic enrollment management, financial aid administration, policy development, and system implementation across multiple institutional contexts. As a respected thought leader, Dr. De Freitas has authored research on Strategic Mandate Agreements and funding model reform in Ontario's postsecondary landscape. Through EdVisingU, he has developed an independent online learning academy featuring microcredential programs and AI-powered training modules for educators, leaders, and students. Dr. De Freitas holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Western University, a Master of Education from Nipissing University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Guelph-Humber.
