Mike Morland

Mike Morland leads the strategic planning and execution of communications and marketing activities for the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI) and supports executive communications for the Vice Provost of Equity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Michigan. In his role, Mike collaborates closely with ODEI reporting units and affiliates, aligning communication and marketing efforts with the overarching strategic vision of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Michigan. Drawing upon 15+ years of diverse experience spanning the non-profit, academic and corporate sectors, Mike brings a wealth of expertise to his role. His multifaceted skill set encompasses journalism, marketing, advertising, public relations, project management, audio/video broadcasting and producing, web design, and strategic management. Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, with concentrations in Print Journalism and Electronic Media. His commitment to academic and professional excellence has earned him recognition, including the Mentor of the Year award from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2013 for his outstanding contributions to the humanities internship program. Furthermore, Mike was honored as a team recipient of the Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award in the same year. In 2014, Mike’s dedication to his work at the U-M Detroit Center and his entrepreneurial ventures earned him a nomination for the prestigious Crain’s Detroit Business “Twenty in their 20s” award.
