Morgan Johnson

Morgan Johnson, EdD, is a higher education executive and educator with nearly two decades of experience leading innovation, academic operations, faculty initiatives, and student success efforts across online and adult-serving higher education environments. She currently serves as Vice President of Academic Experience at the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC), where she leads institutional efforts focused on advancing teaching, learning, and the overall academic experience for students and faculty. In her role, Morgan oversees learning resources and editorial services, academic technology and operations, curriculum development and operations, and academic support services, including the UAGC Library, Writing Center, and tutoring services. Her work centers on building scalable, student-centered systems that strengthen academic quality, improve operational effectiveness, and support faculty and learner success. During the 2023–2024 academic year, Morgan served in a yearlong interim appointment as Vice Provost and Chief Academic Officer for UAGC, providing leadership and oversight for all academic units during a national search for a permanent CAO. Throughout her career, Morgan has held a variety of progressive academic leadership roles, including Vice President of Faculty Affairs, Associate Vice President of the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning, Director of Instructional Services, and Associate Director of Writing Services. She also brings more than fifteen years of online teaching experience, with instruction focused primarily in leadership development, business communication, visual literacy, and management. Morgan is deeply committed to the future of higher education, with professional interests centered on academic innovation, organizational leadership, faculty development, learning systems, and institutional transformation. Her doctoral research focused on mergers and acquisitions in higher education, while her broader scholarly interests examine systematic approaches to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating learning environments. An active contributor to the higher education and nonprofit communities, Morgan served for five years on the Board of Directors for the Association of Distance Education and Independent Learning (ADEIL) and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Mountain Park Health Center, a community health organization serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. She also volunteers in leadership capacities with the Online Learning Consortium (OLC), most recently serving as a member of the OLC Leadership Advisory Group. Morgan earned an EdD in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania, an MA in Education with a specialization in Distance Education, an MA in Organizational Management, and a BA in Public Relations and Marketing. Morgan lives in the Phoenix area with her husband and their three children. Outside of work, she can usually be found on the sidelines of a soccer, baseball, or football field cheering on her kids.
