David Ludlam

David Ludlam

With more than 20 years of experience spanning higher education, public relations and strategic communications, David Ludlam serves as the Senior Vice President of Communications at Colorado Mesa University. Since joining CMU in 2016, he has advanced through several leadership roles, most recently overseeing the university’s comprehensive communications strategy, media relations and public engagement. He helped lead the establishment of CMU’s mission, vision and values through the strategic planning initiative, Forming the Future. His priorities reflect a commitment to elevating institutional storytelling, fostering community partnerships and strengthening CMU’s presence across western Colorado. Prior to his tenure at CMU, Ludlam co-founded Phase Change Energy Solutions, an energy technology company, and co-founded a successful public relations and political consulting firm specializing in project communications and strategy. He has served as executive director of a regional business non-profit association, representing one of western Colorado’s largest business sectors in media and policy arenas at local, state and federal levels. He has also served as policy advisor for the Colorado General Assembly and district representative for the U.S. House of Representatives. As a proud Colorado Mesa University alumnus, Ludlam remains deeply invested in advancing CMU’s mission and vision while contributing to the community through strategic leadership and civic involvement.
