Marina Cooper

She is currently the Senior Associate Vice President for Integrated Marketing and Brand at Johns Hopkins University, where she leads the Office of University Communications’ digital, creative, multimedia and marketing teams. With more than 20 years of senior leadership and trench experience leading strategic communications, brand and marketing in higher education and at all levels of the public sector, Marina has also held two Governor-appointed positions for the State of Maryland. Prior to Johns Hopkins, Marina served as the Vice President of University Marketing and Communications at Towson University, where she first became involved with AMA Baltimore. In 2017, Marina attended her first AMA Baltimore event to learn about how a local organization navigated a comprehensive rebrand. Two years later, Marina and her team led the 154-year-old university’s first rebrand in 20 years, which was recognized as the 2019 Best Rebrand at the AMA Baltimore’s Marketing Excellence (MX) Awards. Her team won a second award in 2020 for an enrollment marketing campaign. In 2020, Marina was a panelist for the first AMA Baltimore She-Suite to share her leadership experiences as a CMO. As President-Elect she attended the 2024 AMA Leadership Summit. Marina graduated University of Maryland as a College Park Scholar with a B.A. in Communications. She earned an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland, Global Campus. She is also a graduate of the Harvard Institute for Educational Management program. Named a 2024 Woman of Influence by I-95 Magazine, Marina is an active member of the Baltimore and the national higher education marketing communities. She volunteers her time on the planning board for the American Marketing Association’s National Symposium for Higher Education and serves as a trustee for the University of Maryland Alumni Association Board of Governors, and the Baltimore Education Scholarship Trust. She is a former global commissioner for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) in Marketing and Communications. As a board member for a Camp Sunrise Inc., a camp for pediatric cancer survivors, she led the non-profit’s first-ever brand workshop and rebrand. Her daughter, a pediatric cancer survivor since age 4, was the 2018 Children’s Miracle Network Champion for Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
