Neil Niman

Neil is currently the faculty director for the Business in Practice Program. Prior to that, he served for six years as the Associate Dean of Academic Programs at the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics. Before that he served five years as the Chair of the Department of Economics. In 2012 he won the University Award for Public Service in recognition of having served sixteen years as the Treasurer of the History of Economics Society and nine years on the Durham Town Council (four as council chair). His areas of interest include: behavioral economics, organizational economics and the history of economic thought. In July 2014 his book, The Gamification of Higher Education: Developing a Game-Based Business Strategy in a Disrupted Marketplace was published by Palgrave Macmillan. He has used game design principles to develop a new teaching pedagogy (http://econjourney.com) and a new first year experience for Paul College students (FIRE).
