Episode Summary: Key Questions and Answers

Why is CRM training critical for admissions teams?

Many institutions underutilize their CRM tools, with only a few staff members proficient in them. By training the entire team, universities can maximize the ROI of their CRM, streamline processes, and improve student engagement.

What are the essential skills for mastering Slate or any CRM?

  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn independently.
  • A basic understanding of database structures and fields.
  • A methodical approach to problem-solving, with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement.

What’s the difference between queries and reports in Slate?

  • Queries generate lists or specific datasets, such as all active applicants within a 30-mile radius.
  • Reports provide insights and comparisons, such as year-over-year travel data or enrollment step progress by territory.

How can CRM tools personalize student engagement?

By using queries and reports effectively, admissions teams can tailor communications to each student’s needs and actions, whether it’s reminding them to submit missing documents or encouraging them to attend an upcoming event.

What are the benefits of Slate’s community forums?

Slate’s forums and Slack channels offer a wealth of user-shared insights, troubleshooting tips, and innovative use cases. They enable professionals to solve issues quickly and learn from others in the higher ed space.
