The Changing Relationship Between College Presidents and Their Brands

Or listen on:

About the Episode

Bill Faust, Senior Partner and Chief Strategy Officer at Ologie, joins the Enrollify Podcast for a discussion on the growing importance of brand in higher education and how to get the "C-suite" (presidents and cabinet members) to become brand ambassadors. In a recent article published in Inside Higher Ed, Bill argued that the greater investment an institution makes in branding and marketing, the more active the university president must be. As institutions begin to decentralize communications in favor of more coordinated brand messaging and storytelling, leveraging their leadership figures as "Chief Storytellers", "Chief Recruiters", and "Chief Thought Leaders" has become crucial to marketing and enrollment success.

Take the example of Gordon Gee from West Virginia University or Michael Crow from Arizona State, and you'll soon come to understand the power of a university whose president both internally and externally supports brand initiatives. We end the episode with a discussion on data-driven marketing and how to couple it with brand storytelling in order to reach the right prospective student at the right time, with the right messaging.
